Tamworth Haulier Gets Leaner and Greener

As part of its series of free in-house presentations, the Department for Transport Freight Best Practice programme recently visited Tamworth based Roadways Container Logistics Ltd, sharing knowledge on how to become more efficient and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
 
The programme which has helped save 240,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the freight industry over the past two years, visited Roadways Container Logistics Ltd to give a bespoke presentation on how to improve their operational efficiency.
 
The half day presentation covered the key messages of the programme, topics such as Saving Fuel, Developing Skills, Equipment and Systems, Operational Efficiency and Performance Management. Roadways Container Logistics Ltd then had the chance to mould the presentation to suit their own individual operational requirements, choosing to examine; Benchmarking and Specifying the Correct Vehicles
 
Nick Matthews National Operations Manager said “Freight Best Practice has a proven track record of helping operators to save fuel through improved efficiency. We are a very environmentally conscious company and we continually strive to reduce our environmental impact in all sort of areas of our business, ranging from re-using rain water in our Birmingham depot to harnessing solar power to charge our yard communication radios. We're keen to look at all environmental innovations and with over 400 vehicles under our control, daily fuel efficiency and our environmental footprint remain an absolute priority”.
