Freight Best Practice Student of the Year....
Award Winner....
The winner of this year’s Freight Best Practice ‘Student of the Year’ competition sponsored by Faber Maunsell is Charlotte Laval who studies European Logistics Management at Huddersfield University. Participants were asked to write an essay of no more than 2,500 words on how they believe the Freight Best Practice programme might further influence the public and private sector road freight operations to reduce environmental impact.
Charlotte’s essay was very well constructed and included some viable strategies on how the impact of the programme could be increased. These recommendations included a strategy of increased vertical targeting i.e. aim at influencing not only freight operators but also their business partners/major customers, more targeted marketing and a possible operator accreditation scheme.
Charlotte entered the competition as she is interested in understanding how environmental initiatives can be effectively integrated with operations to deliver best results and added value. Charlotte was delighted to hear that she had won the competition and plans to write her dissertation on carbon footprint and supply chain modelling. She will receive her trophy and Faber Maunsell cash prize at the Logistics Research Network conference in September.
