Norfolkline Gets Leaner And Greener

As part of its series of free in-house presentations, the Department for Transport Freight Best Practice programme recently visited the Peterborough offices of European logistics provider Norfolkline, sharing knowledge on how to become more efficient and reduce the company's carbon footprint.

The programme which has helped save 240,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the freight industry over the past two years, visited Norfolkline to give a bespoke presentation on how to improve their operational efficiency.

The half day presentation covered the key messages of the programme, topics such as saving fuel, developing skills, equipment and systems, operational efficiency and performance management. Norfolkline then had the chance to mould the presentation to suit their own individual operational requirements, choosing to examine; benchmarking and modern telematic systems.

Eddie Green, Managing Director of Logistics Division said 'Freight Best Practice has a proven track record of helping operators to save fuel through improved efficiency. We are a very environmentally conscious company and we continually strive to reduce our environmental impact. Our current initiatives include trialling bespoke fuel management systems, using recycled cooking oil to power refrigeration units for trailers and upgrading our fleet to include refrigerated trailers that are 92% recyclable.'
