The Department of the Environment ,in its promotion of road safety is responsible for, amongst other things, the regulation of drivers, vehicles and transport operators. Through regulation it seeks to improve the compliance by goods vehicles and their drivers with transport and traffic laws. This will in turn improve road safety through reduced traffic casualties, encourage fairer competition and contribute to a better environment.
