On Line Benchmarking (OLB)

The On Line Benchmarking (OLB) programme is an English Internet based system funded by the Department for Transport (DfT).  It's an innovative system, allowing transport operators to externally and anonymously benchmark their operations.

Measuring your own performance is an essential process for any modern day operator, particularly during tough economic conditions, but to fully understand how your operation compares to that of your peers, benchmarking is essential.

OLB is a useful performance management tool that allows an operator to compare their operational performance across a range of 18 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), covering aspects such as Fuel, Safety, Vehicle Utilisation and Customer Satisfaction.

Benchmarking reports can be run on a continuous basis and instant updates on your performance are available as further data is added to the system.

OLB Interactive Training Workshops

We are continuing to run a series of FREE workshops, available to transport operators in England, where we will be demonstrating how the OLB system works, its capabilities, and to also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions to the OLB team.

The workshops are tailored to those operators who are interested in OLB but are yet to make the first step in entering data to be able to run external benchmarking reports.

We will be holding workshops in the following areas:

  • East Midlands
  • West Midlands
  • South West England
  • East of England
  • Newcastle
  • South West England
  • Yorkshire

A full schedule of workshop dates and times will be confirmed soon.

If you have yet to attend an OLB workshop and are interested in attending a workshops over the next 12 months, please register your interest early, by emailing olbsupport@freightbestpractice.org.uk or call 0161 927 8331.

Places will be allocated on first come, first served basis, and are limited to 2 attendees from each transport operator. Full details for each workshop shall be sent out separately to all OLB registered contacts prior to the event.
